10th edition of the Scientific Convocation at MINRESI

Tribute to Mr. Nya Ngatchou Jean, retired Chief Research Officer.
Presided by Dr. Madeleine Tchuinté, Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, the ceremony took place on Wednesday, 15 March 2023 at MINRESI’s esplanade. This edition was organized against the backdrop of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the event instituted by Dr. Madeleine Tchuinté, Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation. The very first edition was organized in 2013. Usual activities were carried during this 10th edition including the inaugural lecture  masterly presented by Prof. Eddy Ngonkeu, Associate Professor and Technical Advisor No. 2 at MINRESI. This year’s theme was: "Scientific Research and Innovation as a major 'Made in Cameroon' and Import Substitution policy catalyst." The innovation this year was the celebration of the 10th anniversary.

Tributes were paid to Mr. Nya Ngatchou Jean, Chief Research Officer , by his peers. He is a seasoned researcher, dedicated research administrator and one of the main pioneers in the establishment of the National Agricultural Research System in Cameroon, who worked for almost four decades in the development of scientific research in Cameroon. He is credited with publishing numerous works and training many researchers. He is a Knight of the Cameroon Order of Merit and Commander of Ivory Coast's Order of Merit of National Education.
